Family Law & Alternative Dispute Resolution

Every family is unique, and so are the challenges they face. When choosing an attorney to support you through those moments, it is essential you have a dynamic legal team—one that evolves with your journey and stays up to date with the latest developments in the law. That way, you’re not just supported; you’re one step ahead.

Divorces

We are able to handle any divorce, from an unopposed divorce where parties have been fortunate enough to share their view on how to proceed, despite the challenges that they might be facing, to multimillion Rand commercial divorces, comprising complex financial structures and personalities.

Mediation and Dispute Resolution

Finding common ground to resolve a dispute fairly is always preferable to unnecessarily expensive and emotionally draining litigation.

Antenuptial Contract

A South African antenuptial contract must be signed before a Notary Public before you get married. Our preference is that each party obtain independent legal advice on any contract that they might be contemplating entering into, including antenuptial contracts. Our law regarding matrimonial property regimes is currently in flux, with proposed changes anticipated for the future. We are at the forefront of those changes and can assist you with your antenuptial contract.

International Family Law Matters

We have extensive experience and have worked with a network of international family lawyers to deal with international family law matters, including: international child abduction (often governed by the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction); divorces; international antenuptial/prenuptial agreements; and, maintenance.

Child Law

Our firm specialises in all aspects of our law as it relates to children, offering compassionate and expert legal support to ensure the well-being and rights of children are always protected. Whether it’s matters related to care and contact, guardianship, adoption, child maintenance, or child protection, we work closely with families to find fair and lasting solutions. We are committed to advocating for the best interests of children, and our experienced attorneys guide parents, guardians, and caregivers through the legal processes with sensitivity and understanding, ensuring that every decision made prioritises the child’s safety and future.

Co-habitation

Cohabitation and rights for cohabitees is a complex developing area of our law. The media and your friends may not be up-to-date on what the law provides for when cohabitees find themselves in difficulties leading up to a separation. The developments in our law have focused on members of our society who were previously marginalised, but with a fair resolve sought for all involved.
